Satoru Yamashita’s journey in CAPCOM quickly established him as a pixel art pioneer. Starting with Ghosts 'n Goblins in 1985, his first project’s poster art was done by hand, a testament to his skill before digital tools became the norm. One of his proudest achievements was Street Fighter II, where he led the object team in designing the iconic characters Ryu and Ken. CAPCOM’s creative work environment allowed him to experiment freely, whether he was drawing through the night or diving into a 24-hour poster project, driven by his love of art.
After leaving CAPCOM, Yamashita continued exploring art and design independently, diving into 3D modeling with Jet Brush and Blender, and even creating unique T-shirt designs. His latest project in partnership with Minnapad, Dhalman, is inspired by India’s dynamic culture representing Yamashita’s dream of crafting a rich visual world, ideally as memorable as the animated classics he admires.
Over decades of creating art for titles like Final Fight and X-MEN, Yamashita has left an indelible mark on the gaming world. His passion and dedication to craft continue to inspire artists, making him a true Legend in game design.
